English Education in the Electronic Era

English Education in the Electronic Era

Kimihiro Irie

Kagoshima University (part-time)

Information technology has transformed the surroundings
of English education. The language is in practical use as the
Internet provides information from all over the world and people
communicate with each other regardless of nationalities by
exchanging emails. English is closer to us but it is presented in
different modes and by different media. Accordingly, methodology
of English teaching should be adapted in line with the needs of
the time. In this presentation, I will discuss the challenges
students and teachers face to survive the Electronic Era.
Providing the empirical data and experiences I gained from
English and Information classes, I will explore the issues to
overcome for the improvement of English education.
